Chairperson of State Committee: “We favor increasing the number of women deputies in the Milli Majlis”

“We favor increasing the number of women deputies in the Milli Majlis," Chairperson of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Hijran Huseynova said at conference called “Gender equality and media” within the framework of the project “Gender equality and freedom of the media in Azerbaijan”.

She said that during the first municipal elections in Azerbaijan only 4 percent of women succeeded: "Then we started educational activities with women. At present, the number of women in the municipal system has reached 35 percent. This is praiseworthy. We also favor increasing the number of women deputies in the Milli Majlis."
