“Cultivating peaceful relations through Intercultural Dialogue”

The 4th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue has featured a plenary session titled “Cultivating peaceful relations through Intercultural Dialogue”.

The session was moderated by Jean-Christophe Bas, President of Global Compass.

Speakers in the event included Novruz Mammadov, deputy head of the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration and chief of the Administration's foreign relations department, Patrice Brodeur, Senior Advisor of King Abdulla International Centre for Intercultural and Interreligious Dialogue, Scherto Gill, Senior Fellow of Guerrand-Hermès Foundation for Peace, Imad Karam, Executive Director, Initiatives of Change International, Tim Williams, Head of EU Eastern Partnership Culture and Creativity Programme, Joel Bons, Composer, Artistic director, Alesia Koush, Expert of the Foundation and Secretary General of the International Institute Life Beyond Tourism.

In his remarks, Novruz Mammadov noted the importance of developing peaceful relations and finding the root causes of conflicts. He highlighted international sporting events and conferences on interreligious and intercultural dialogue hosted by Azerbaijan.

Novruz Mammadov also provided an insight into the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, saying a part of Azerbaijani territories have been under the Armenian occupation for more than 25 years. He underlined the UN Security Council's four conflict-related resolutions, and other international organizations' similar decisions, saying these resolutions and decisions have not yet been implemented.
