Oil fields have been discovered in three provinces of Turkey, says the message published in the Turkish official newspaper "Resmi Gazete". The message reads that the oil has been found in the provinces of Mardin, Sirnak and Bitlis.
The message says that the potential of the discovered oil fields is currently being assessed.
Earlier, the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey Berat Albayrak said that in the coming years, Turkey will expand the work on hydrocarbon exploration.
"Energy consumption in Turkey is growing, and for the purpose of reduction of dependence on imports, hydrocarbon deposits are being actively searched for currently in the Black Sea," Albayrak said.
Earlier, in January of this year, reserves of high-quality oil were discovered at the Magrip field in the Kurtalan area of the Turkish province of Siirt.
