Construction of new bridge over Samur River to cost AZN 36M

Construction of the new motorway bridge over the Samur River will cost RUB 1.2 billion or AZN 35.640 million, director of Dagestan branch of Kaspi Company Mahammadrasul Omarov said.

The construction of the bridge will cost RUB 1.2 billion, of which 50 percent will be funded by Azerbaijan and 50 percent by Russia.

As reported, the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation have today held the groundbreaking ceremony of the motorway bridge over the Samur River on the border between the two countries. The ceremony was attended by delegations led by Azerbaijan’s Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies Ramin Guluzade and Russia’s Transport Minister Maksim Sokolov.

The groundbreaking ceremony took place in the territory of Yarag-Gazmalar checkpoint in Maharramkand district of Dagestan.

The intergovernmental agreement on the construction of a new highway bridge over the Samur River was signed on 13 September 2013.

The new bridge will replace the former one built in 1957.

The three-lane bridge will be 325.3 meters in length and 17.3 meters in width. APA
