Finsbury Park attack: Cardiff resident Darren Osborne arrested

As the investigation continues into the Finsbury Park attack more details have emerged about the suspect, Darren Osborne.

The 47-year-old father of four is being held on suspicion of commission, preparation or instigation of terrorism including murder and attempted murder after a rental van was driven into worshippers near a mosque in north London.

Police have searched his house in the Cardiff suburbs as part of their investigation. No further suspects are being sought.

The British government says Osborne was previously unknown to security services.

Eleven people were injured and one man, who had collapsed shortly before the van arrived, died. It is not clear if his death was related to the attack.

Until 2004 the Finsbury Park mosque was known as a breeding ground for radicalisation, led by imam Abu Hamza.

Following his arrest, Mohammed Kozbar brought the mosque into a new era. It has since won several community awards, including one for tackling extremism. EURONEWS
