“We are concerned about any US presence in the region and around us. However, on this specific issue, we maintain close contact with our Armenian friends and trust them.”
According to Yeniavaz.com, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi made the remarks on October 16 in Yerevan while answering a related question from News.am.
He was asked whether Iran was concerned about the US presence in the region, in light of recent visits by Armenian officials and the latest talks between Armenia and Iran.
“We know that they are not taking any steps against Iran's security. Therefore, we continue our consultations with the Armenian authorities. Armenia's foreign minister, who is a very good friend of mine, was in Tehran. We held good consultations. Today, our president will meet with the Armenian prime minister. We are in close contact,” Araghchi said.
