“War was not our choice. Armenia forced us into war. Those standing behind it apparently did not think that Azerbaijan would restore its sovereignty and uphold international law by force.”
According to Yeniavaz.com, President Ilham Aliyev made these remarks during his address at the 7th Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA).
The head of state stressed that they had all been mistaken, adding:
“Apparently, they did not understand the character of our proud, freedom-loving people, who live by their traditions and moral values.”
