“We Must Not Allow Seeds of Discord to Be Sown Between Us and Azerbaijan” – Bahçeli

“No seeds of discord that could harm the brotherly relations and spiritual ties between the countries of the Turkic world, particularly Azerbaijan, should be allowed to be sown.”

According to Yeniavaz.com, the statement was made by Devlet Bahçeli, leader of Türkiye’s Nationalist Movement Party (MHP).

Bahçeli said that, from the Aegean to the Caspian and from the past to the future, Türkiye and Azerbaijan are two powerful states belonging to the same spiritual geography.

He stressed the importance of acting with common sense, mutual understanding and shared reasoning in response to any approach aimed at damaging the brotherly relations between the two countries.

He described Türkiye’s upcoming rotating chairmanship of the Organization of Turkic States as an important responsibility and opportunity arising from recent developments. He also emphasized that relations between Türkiye and Azerbaijan are among the strongest pillars of this process.

Bahçeli noted that the historical, cultural and fraternal ties between the two countries are rooted not in political developments but in the shared memory and spiritual bond of their peoples.

He expressed confidence that the meeting between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, the commander-in-chief during the victory in Karabakh, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on the sidelines of the summit would once again demonstrate the unwavering strength of Türkiye-Azerbaijan brotherhood.

Bahçeli said the Organization of Turkic States summit, scheduled to take place in Ankara in the last week of October, carries historical significance. With the rotating chairmanship passing from Azerbaijan to Türkiye, he said, Türkiye would assume an important responsibility for advancing the shared goals of the Turkic world.

He added that their aim was to deepen cooperation based on mutual respect for the sovereignty and independence of the Turkic republics, build a shared future and align the goals of the “Turkic Century” and the “Century of Türkiye” with the advancement of the Turkic world.
