
In January-August 2026, products worth 44.3 billion manats were sold to consumers in Azerbaijan’s retail trade network.
Yeniavaz.com reports, citing official data, that 24.1 billion manats of the sales consisted of food products, beverages and tobacco products, while 20.2 billion manats consisted of non-food products.
Compared with the same period of 2025, retail trade turnover increased by 3.9 percent in real terms. Sales of food products, beverages and tobacco products increased by 1.4 percent, while sales of non-food products increased by 6.9 percent.
Among product groups, the highest increase was recorded in computers, telecommunications equipment and printing products. Sales in this sector increased by 33.4 percent to 694.3 million manats.
Sales of pharmaceutical products and medical equipment also increased by 21.6 percent, reaching 1.2 billion manats. Sales of electrical appliances and furniture increased by 8.9 percent, while sales of other non-food products increased by 5.2 percent.
Overall, 50.1 percent of the money spent by the population in retail trade was spent on food products, 12.7 percent on clothing and footwear, 6.1 percent on motor fuel, and 4.9 percent on electrical appliances and furniture.
During the reporting period, each resident of Azerbaijan purchased an average of 538.6 manats worth of products per month in the retail trade network. Of this, 293.1 manats accounted for food products, beverages and tobacco products, while 245.5 manats accounted for non-food products.
