A ranking of the best World Cups in history - List

The sports newspaper "Athletic" has compiled a ranking of the best World Cups in football history.
According to Yeniavaz.com, the tournament held in Mexico in 1970 topped the list.
Brazil won the tournament, defeating Italy 4-1 in the final. It was also the first World Cup to use substitutions, referees showing yellow and red cards, and television broadcasting matches in color.
Second place in the ranking went to the 1982 World Cup held in Spain. In the final, Italy defeated the Federal Republic of Germany (West Germany) 3-1 to win the World Cup. This World Cup was the first time 24 teams participated.
Rounding out the top three was the 1986 World Cup held in Mexico. Argentina and West Germany met in the final. The game ended 3-2 in favor of Argentina. This tournament is remembered for the brilliant performance of Diego Maradona.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico ranks 10th on the list. Spain won the tournament, defeating Argentina in the final (1-0). This was the first tournament to feature 48 teams.
