According to official statistics, the number of girls born in Azerbaijan last year fell to its lowest level in decades.

It is noteworthy that the year when the highest number of girls was born in Azerbaijan was 1990. During that period, 88,600 girls were born in the country, almost double the current figure.
According to official data, 54,200 boys were born in 2024. Thus, the number of newborn boys exceeds the number of girls by 6,100, or 11 percent.
It is worth noting that today, October 11, is the International Day of the Girl Child worldwide. This date is intended to protect girls' rights and promote equal opportunities in society.
