Who can apply for a nursing home? - Conditions


As is well known, a social care facility for the elderly, currently known in Azerbaijan as a "Nursing Home," serves as a shelter for elderly and vulnerable citizens.

reports, that the only "Nursing Home" in Azerbaijan operates under the Social Services Agency.
Who can apply for a nursing home, and what are the main conditions?
In an interview with Yeniavaz.com, Sarvar Abdullayev from the Public Relations and Communications Department of the Social Services Agency noted that there are certain conditions for admission to a social care facility for the elderly:
"We accept individuals aged 70 and above who have completely or partially lost the ability to care for themselves, who do not suffer from mental or infectious diseases, as well as individuals who do not have close relatives or legal representatives who could care for them."
Sarvar Abdullayev also provided information on the procedure for applying to the nursing home:
"Admission is carried out by contacting the Social Services Agency offices or DOST centers of municipalities, non-governmental organizations, or by relatives or legal representatives (guardians, trustees).
According to him, 230 elderly people currently reside in the nursing home under state care:
"Of these, 118 are men and 112 are women. Over the past period of this year, 57 people have been placed in this facility."
Sarvar Abdullayev also provided information on the current conditions of stay at the social services facility for the elderly:
"As another manifestation of President Ilham Aliyev's special care for the elderly, conditions that meet modern requirements have been created at this facility in recent years. An additional five-story building with 170 beds has been commissioned. Each room in the facility is equipped with necessary appliances, including a refrigerator, television, and other amenities. Here, senior citizens can use the library, gyms, workshops for certain types of handicrafts, and more.
