
The number of people leaving Azerbaijan has increased sharply after the closure of land borders.
Yeniavaz.com reports, that in 2020, when the country's land borders were closed, the number of people leaving Azerbaijan for permanent residence was 568.
It is worth noting that in the following year, 2021, their number increased to 570 people, in 2022 - to 1069 people, and in 2023 - more than doubled - to 2483 people. This figure was the highest immigration figure since 2009.
For information, in 2023, people left Azerbaijan permanently mainly for Russia (720 people), Turkey (483 people), the United States (145 people), Germany (97 people), Georgia (81 people), Kazakhstan (73 people), Uzbekistan (62 people), the United Kingdom (48 people) and Turkmenistan (42 people).
