Oil production at ACG decreased by almost 2 times - Figures for the last 13 years


During January-September 2023 from the Chirag, Central Azeri, West Azeri, East Azeri, Deepwater Gunashli and West Chirag platforms of the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) platform in total 100 million barrels (14 million tons) or an average of 368 thousand barrels of oil per day were produced.

Our calculations based on last year's data show that compared to the same period in 2022, total production fell by 12.8%, or 14 million barrels.
For information, compared to 13 years ago - the result of 9 months of 2012 - production at ACG decreased by almost 2 times (87.4 million barrels). Thus, over 9 months of 2012, 187.4 million barrels of oil were produced at the ACG field.
In addition, for 9 months of 2023, 136 oil production wells, as well as 53 gas and water injection wells were in operation at ACG. 13 years ago the total number of wells was only 94 (62 production, 32 injection).
The main participants in the ACG project are BP (operator - 30.37%), SOCAR (25%), MOL (9.57%) (replaced Chevron from April 16, 2020), INPEKS (9.31%), Equinor ( formerly Statoil) (7.27%), ExxonMobil (6.79%), TPAO (5.73%), ITOCU (3.65%) and ONGC Videsh Limited (OVL) (2.31%).
