An employee of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation became the new Minister of Culture - Dossier


By the decree of President Ilham Aliyev, Adil Gabil oglu Karimli has been appointed Minister of Culture of Azerbaijan.
Yeniavaz.com reports that Adil Gabil oglu Karimli was born on October 22, 1979 in Baku. Since 1986, he studied at school number 42 in Baku. In 1995, he was admitted to the Faculty of Law of the Baku State University. In 1999 (at the age of 20) he graduated from the Faculty of Law of Baku State University with a bachelor's degree, and in 2001 - a master's degree with honors. In 2002, he was admitted to the Department of Criminal Law and Criminology of Baku State University as a doctoral student, and in 2007 he defended his Ph.D in law.
He knows English and Russian. He is married and has three children. He is a reserve officer specializing in military law.
Adil Karimli started his career in 1999 as a legal consultant in the publishing house "Hüquq ədəbiyyatı". In 2001-2003 he was a senior legal adviser at the Baku Legal Center. Since 2001 he has been working as a lecturer at Baku State University, since 2011 - as a senior lecturer. In 2003-2009, he worked as the head of the legal department of the Azerbaijani representative office of the "Great Wall Drilling Company".
Since 2005, he worked as the director of the legal and international relations department of the Public Television and Radio Company. In 2007-2011, he worked as the head of the Azerbaijani delegation at the Eurovision Song Contest, and from August 2011 to August 2012, he headed the working group of the Eurovision Song Contest 2012, organized in Baku. Since 2007 he has been a member of the Legal and Public Affairs Committee of the European Broadcasting Union and since 2011 a member of the Advisory Group for the Eurovision Song Contest of the European Broadcasting Union.
By the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated October 8, 2012, he was appointed First Deputy Director of the Heydar Aliyev Center.
He headed the department of culture at "Milan Ekspo", "Dubay Ekspo" and other international events, was the head of the organizing committee of the Azerbaijani pavilion at VDNKh in Moscow.
He was a member of the working group of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation on restoration and construction projects in the territories liberated from occupation, the Days of Azerbaijani Culture, organized by the foundation in a number of countries. He worked as a curator of cultural projects of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in Germany, Great Britain, Italy and France.
In 2004-2010 he was a member of the Bar Association of the Republic of Azerbaijan. On July 1, 2022, he was re-admitted to the Bar Association. Since May 2014, he has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Azerbaijan Automobile Federation.
By the relevant decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated December 22, 2022, he was relieved of the post of First Deputy Director of the Heydar Aliyev Center and appointed First Deputy Minister of Culture of Azerbaijan.
