Grocery prices up 19.4%, living wage up 17.1%

At today's meeting of the Milli Majlis, the draft law "On the subsistence minimum for 2023" was adopted in the third reading.

Yeniavaz.com reports, that the subsistence minimum for the next year is 246 manats for the country, 261 manat for the able-bodied population, 199 manats for pensioners and 220 manats for children.
For comparison, we note that the living wage for 2022 is 210 manats in the country, 220 manats for the able-bodied population, 176 manats for pensioners and 193 manats for children.
This means that next year the subsistence minimum will be increased by 17.1% manat, for the able-bodied population - by 18.6%, for pensioners - by 13.1%, for children - by 14%.
For information, that the living wage is a social norm, consisting of the sum of the cost of the minimum consumer basket and mandatory payments. The minimum consumer basket is a set of food, non-food products and services necessary for a minimum level of human health and vital activity, determined on the basis of scientific standards.
For this reason, rising prices (inflation) for consumer goods (food and non-food products) and services also increase the cost of the minimum consumer basket.
According to the latest published official information, food prices in the first 10 months of 2022 increased by 19.4 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
As can be seen from the figures, the rise in prices exceeds the rise in the subsistence minimum.
